Fixed Assets

Fixed assets refers to assets that are not readily convertible to cash - they are non liquid items.  Fixed assets are normally listed on the businesses balance sheet as an asset.

Examples of assets include plant and machinery, land and buildings, office equipment and motor vehicles.

Depreciation is normally charged on fixed assets (except land and buildings) to reduce the value of the asset over time in relation to wear and tear or it becoming obsolete.
